In this phase, your tendons, ligaments and connective tissue are strengthened so that they can withstand the onslaught of heavier weights in the later phase of your weight training program.

          Weight training for kickers of football is usually broken down into three phases -- off season (6 months), in season (5 months) and transition (1 month). It is during off-season that you should aim to build maximum strength, size and power. In the in-season you should concentrate on maintaining the gains of the off-season.
